How TutCart Rankings work

Every tutor earns a single 0–100 TutRank score, recomputed every night from four groups of signals:

• Verification & safety

  Identity (KYC) and background checks, and a clean safety record. Trust is the floor — it gates everything else.

• Teaching outcomes

  Review quality and learner results, confidence-adjusted so a single five-star can’t outrank a deep, consistently strong record.

• Reliability

  Showing up: completion rate, low cancellations, responsiveness and on-time starts.

• Fit & engagement

  Repeat learners, retention and breadth of what a tutor genuinely teaches well.

We publish each tutor's rank and sub-scores, but never the exact internal weights — that keeps the system robust against gaming while staying transparent about what matters.

Schools, colleges, universities and academies are ranked by a composite that blends the TutRank of their tutors (the largest factor), the share of their tutors who are verified, and the breadth of published programmes. An institution rises when its tutors genuinely perform — not by listing more, but by teaching better.

Beyond the national board, we rank tutors within each city and state so you can find the best near you. A tutor's local rank reflects only tutors offering in the same area.

Reviews count only from learners who completed a paid, verified session. We continuously screen for manipulation — review bursts from new accounts, reciprocal rings, and unnatural rating patterns — and exclude anything flagged from the score. Verified badges reflect identity, background and a sustained quality record, and are revoked automatically if that record lapses.
